Play2Read: Crazy Sounds

In this fun and educational card game, each player is dealt 7 cards, each containing a colored word. The remaining cards form the draw pile, and the first card from the draw pile is flipped over. Players take turns playing cards onto the discard pile that match either in color or long vowel sounds (e.g., you could play "believe" on "meet"). The first player to run out of cards wins! This game is perfect for practicing and recognizing long vowel sounds and their letter patterns, reinforcing long vowel sounds, and helping young readers identify vowel sounds represented by more than one letter.
